How Do Fresh Striping & Sealcoating Help Your Business?

  • Increase Curb Appeal
Help your business stand out with fresh markings and style.
  • Reduce Maintenance
Regular sealcoating helps your asphalt better withstand wear and tear on your paved areas.
  • Slows Oxidation & Water Penetration
This also keeps the binding in good shape, resulting in fewer failures.
  • Resists Oil & Gasoline Spills
As a petroleum product itself, asphalt is vulnerable to penetration by oil & gas dripping from vehicles  — which can soften and break down the asphalt.
  • Improves Appearance
Sealcoating makes your asphalt look brand new — and that makes everyone happier. A deep black asphalt surface is your property’s welcome mat.
  • ADA Compliance
Have peace of mind that your paved areas meet ADA compliance with updated and fresh pavement striping and marking.

Sealcoating & Striping FAQs

What is the purpose of sealcoating?

Sealcoating is the application of a liquid layer of asphalt-based emulsion to protect your pavement from damage. Sealcoating extends the life of your pavement, slows water penetration, protects against oil damage, and keeps your pavement looking great.

What do pavement colors indicate?

Yellow lines divide traffic traveling in the opposite direction and mark the center of two-lane roads, plus the left edge of split highways, one-way roads, and ramps. Solid white lines divide traffic lanes that travel in the same direction and are used to mark the road’s right edge.

A solid yellow line indicates that passing is prohibited, whereas a dashed yellow line indicates that passing is permitted. Solid white lines divide traffic lanes that travel in the same direction and are used to mark the road’s right edge. A double white line means lane changes are prohibited, while a solid, single white line indicates that lane changes are discouraged. Finally, a dashed white line indicates that lane changes are allowed.

What purpose do pavement markings and striping serve?

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, “One of the most important aspects of a safe and efficient roadway is the uniform application of pavement markings to delineate the roadway path and specific traffic lanes. Pavement markings can communicate information to road users like no other traffic control device. They provide continuous information to road users about roadway alignment, vehicle positioning, and other important driving-related tasks.”

Is GPM able to follow ADA compliance on new pavement striping and markings?

Since many ADA compliance regulations govern pavement markings, it’s vital to get the job done right — the first time. GPM knows federal and state laws and the most practical and cost-efficient ways to comply with them. These laws change often, and we leverage technology, information, and education to stay on top of the adjustments.

Is sealcoating actually worth it?

Yes! Sealcoating protects your asphalt in many ways. It lengthens the asphalt’s lifespan by providing a protective layer to keep out water, oil, and other chemicals that can deteriorate your pavement. It also provides protection from UV rays, which can weaken asphalt over time and cause your pavement to become brittle and crack. It’s much cheaper to sealcoat your asphalt every 3 to 5 years than it is to replace it, or to repair the damage from alligator cracking or potholes. Finally, sealcoating gives your asphalt a uniform appearance and that freshly paved look.
