Asphalt Overlays & Sealcoating

Overlays are commonly recommended as part of a repair or maintenance project. We have extensive experience with overlays and sealcoating and will show you a range of options.

Commercial Asphalt Paving Malibu CA 5

Sectional Patching

Not all projects require complete reconstruction or an overlay. Sectional patching is often a reasonable solution to extend the life of your pavement

Commercial Asphalt Paving Malibu CA 6

Full Depth Reclamation (FDR)

FDR involves taking the section requiring repair and pulverizing both the asphalt and its granular underlayment to produce a uniform, “stabilized base course” (SBC). FDR gives you a permanent fix (definitely not a “band aid”). Because it recycles existing material, it is considered one of the “greenest” techniques.

Commercial Asphalt Paving Malibu CA 7

Mill & Fill

This consists of removing existing pavement with a milling machine to a depth of 1-2”, and then applying new asphalt mix.

Commercial Asphalt Paving Malibu CA 8

Asphalt Removal & Replacement

Eventually, asphalt reaches the end of its life cycle. At that point the only realistic solution is to remove the existing pavement and replace it with new asphalt.

Say goodbye to stressing about paved areas when you work with GPM. Our asphalt team has the expertise to understand your needs and recommend a practical repair or installation plan that fits your budget.

“GPM did fantastic work for our HOA! They did both cement work last fall and sealing of our parking area recently. For both jobs, the crew showed up on time and were very courteous and really paid attention to detail. We are a small complex and getting someone to even show up, much less do a good job, can be challenging. I am happy to recommend them!”

“Our agency has been using this company for our parking lot repair and maintenance. I have been dealing with Matt for many years and not ONE problem. They are professional and they have an awesome team. No disruption whatsoever and they pretty much take care of everything from A to Z. Everything is easy and our parking lot looks awesome. BTW, the pricing is great too. I highly recommend them. Thank you, Matt!”

Asphalt Paving FAQs

What is the process in getting a paving quote from GPM?

It’s easy. Simply contact us through our website form and tell us about your potential paving project. We’ll get in touch and arrange an onsite visit to accurately assess your project. Your quote will include the cost of the project and an accurate timeframe for completion.

What asphalt mixture do you recommend for the Southern CA climate?

We use a variety of asphalt mix designs to best address every project needs. Hot mix asphalt is ideal for the warm California climate. We will assess which mix works best for your project, and also what type of aggregate will provide the best finished result. Larger aggregates like gravel are needed if the asphalt will be used by heavy commercial vehicles. Smaller aggregate presents a smoother look and is perfect for normal, everyday use.

How do you decide if asphalt or concrete works better?

Usually the type of project dictates whether we use asphalt or concrete. Asphalt is easier to install and usually costs less than concrete. It’s ideal for roads, parking lots, industrial properties, and multi-family or HOA units. However, concrete provides a stronger finished project than asphalt, so is often the best choice for heavy loads. Concrete is also preferred for sidewalks, curbs, ramps, gutters, patios, walkways, and water channels. Concrete can be stamped, colored and custom finished which offers many options for a touch of beauty to the finished product.

Do you work at night to help minimize disruptions to my business?

We don’t typically work at night, but we take a proactive approach to minimize disruptions to your business. We schedule our projects to the day and hour, so you know exactly when your project will begin and end. We also notify anyone affected by the work, whether they are business owners, homeowners, or tenants. We also zone off the project area prior to beginning so stakeholders are not surprised the day work begins. We take pride in our customer service and ensuring that tenants and property owners have a positive experience and as little disruption as possible. GPM handles all types of phasing and traffic plans.

Known for its stunning beaches and lovely coastal views, Malibu, CA, has been a popular place for celebrity homes. The original inhabitants of Malibu were the Chumash Native American tribe. The Chumash lived in this area for thousands of years before the arrival of European explorers and settlers.

In the late 1700s, Spanish explorers arrived and claimed the area for Spain. The Spanish established missions and ranches. The famous Rancho Topanga Malibu Sequit covered much of what is now Malibu City.

Malibu became a popular destination for celebrities in the 1920s and 1930s. This trend continues, and Malibu is known for its many rich, famous inhabitants. Today, it is home to well over 12,000 people and is one of the most iconic and sought-after places in the world.

Visit California says the following:

“Stretching for more than 30 miles along the Pacific and Highway One, Malibu has achieved almost mythological status among California beach towns. Hollywood stars and top athletes live in oceanfront homes here, under an elegant veil of privacy on long strands of beach, and enjoy front-row seats for surfing and unforgettable sunsets.

While it may sound exclusive, there is plenty of Malibu magic for visitors to access too. Considered to have some of the most perfect waves anywhere, Malibu’s Surfrider Beach, just off the Malibu Pier, was named the first World Surfing Reserve; nearby Zuma Beach is a sun magnet for locals and families. In winter, Point Dume, at Malibu’s north end, provides an ideal perch for spotting migrating gray whales.”
